Bernice (Gushue) Fifield

Niagara Falls, Ont. Bernice Frances Fifield, 77, of Niagara Falls, Ont., passed away at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009. Born in Sydney, N.S., she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret (White) Gushue. Bernice worked at the Oneida silverware plant in Niagara Falls for years until she retired. During her lifetime, Bernice enjoyed attending church, playing the piano, skating and spending time with friends. She always had a smile and a joke for everyone. Bernice is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Art Fifield; her beloved daughter, Lori Morrison (Jim) and her cherished grandson, William Morrison. She is also survived by her brothers, Ron Gushue (June), Jim Gushue (Ellen) and her sister and best friend, Anna Hayes. She will be greatly missed by her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and many nieces, nephews, and greatnieces and greatnephews in Nova Scotia and Ontario. Besides her parents, Bernice was predeceased by her brothers, Cyril, Michael 'Mickey' and George 'Jr.' Gushue and sisters, Theresa Tonet and Madelyn Sheppard. Visitation for Mrs. Fifield was held Friday at the Patterson Funeral Home, 6062 Main St., Niagara Falls, with the funeral mass being held today (Saturday) at 10 a.m. at the church of Our Lady of the Scapular.
