Jessie Charlotte MacDonald, 93, of Howie Centre/Pugwash, passed away March 7, 2009, in East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash.
Born at St. George’s Channel, Richmond County, she was a daughter of the late James and Annie (Morrison) Calder.
Jessie loved to quilt, crochet, knit, do needlepoint and play cards.
Surviving are her daughter, Anne (Allison) Gillis, Pugwash; grandchildren, Kerry (Peter) Turner, Tantallon, Leigh (Paton Francis) Gillis, Bedford; great-grandchildren, Jenna, Allie and Brennan Turner; brother, William ‘Billy’ Calder, St. George’s Channel; sisters, Margaret Warren, Vernon, B.C., Christine Wheaton, Halifax; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald ‘Dan’ MacDonald, son, Hugh Ian MacDonald and brother, John Calder.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Friday, March 20 in the Sydney Memorial Chapel, 49 Welton St., Sydney, from where the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2009. Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating. A reception to follow at the memorial chapel. Burial in the Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
