Roderick McNeil, age 77, of Reidville Street, Glace Bay, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2009.
Born in Dominion, Roderick was the son of the late Charles and Loretta (Armsworthy) McNeil.
Roderick was a coal miner for over 31 years. He worked in Numbers 16, 1B, Lingan and he retired from 26 Colliery.
Roderick was known for his dry sense of humour and his passion for working around cars.
He is survived by four daughters, Margaret (Joe) Pettifer Jones, Ontario, Nancy (Terry) McCallum, P.E.I., Susan (Louis) MacDonnell, Saskatchewan, Eileen (Gary) Campbell, Glace Bay; and one son, Rick, Glace Bay.
Roderick is survived by one brother, Steven (Vivian) McNeil, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Dougie, Johnnie, Charles and four sisters, Dollena, Kathleen, Rosie and Mary.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 6 from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral service is Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Leo Boone officiating. Cremation to follow with burial in Ocean Avenue Cemetery, Dominion, at a later date.
