Eliza May (Lyle) Frier, age 84, of 80 McFarlane Street, Stratford passed away suddenly at the Stratford General Hospital on Friday, April 2, 2010.
Born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, a place she continued to love, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah Jane (McKinnon) McDonald. She had been employed with Canadian Fabricated Products and was an active member of the CAW. She was also a member of Immaculate Conception Church and a longtime member of the Catholic Women's League. She was known for her strong opinions, her work ethic and sharing her baked goods with loved ones.
Beloved wife of Harold William Frier, whom she married almost 60 years ago at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Kitchener on April 29, 1950. Dear mother of Paulette Micak and husband James of Aurora and Karen Vance and husband Carl of Waterloo. Loving grandmother of Andrew, Katherine and Jesse Micak and partner Sarah Hankins and Sarah, Jeffrey and Eric Vance. Dear sister-in-law of Georgina McDonald of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Greta Thompkins of Stratford, Helen and Willi Bauer of Kitchener and Fred and Arlene Schaller of Chatham. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been predeceased by siblings Nellie, Murray, Wally, twins, Angie and Robbie, Donty, Mayme and three siblings in infancy.
Relatives and friends visited at the Heinbuck Funeral Home, 156 Albert Street, Stratford on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 50 Well Street, Stratford today (Tuesday, April 6, 2010) at 11 a.m. Rev. Father Tom Ferrera will be celebrant. Cremation will follow with interment at Avondale Cemetery, Stratford.
