Evelyn Violet Wilton passed away at age 96 on April 9, 2009 at her home in Redondo Beach, California.
She was born in Glace Bay in 1912, the daughter of Fred and Jane (Nee Britt) Stevens. She married Ewen Wilton in 1931 and lived in Glace Bay until they moved to Watertown, Massachusetts in 1954. They moved to Redondo Beach, California in 1957.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ewen in 1974 and their son, James in 2007.
She is survived by her sister, Mabel Rafferty of Albert Bridge; three sons, Bob, Lorne and Roy; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and nephews and nieces in Nova Scotia as well as other parts of Canada and Massachusetts. She will be sadly missed by all.
Visitation will be at the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay on Friday, April 17, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Michael Henderson will be held at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Glace Bay on Saturday April 18 at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
