Roddie Thomas Bernard, 44 of Indian Brook passed away Friday, April 17, 2009 at work.
Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, USA, he was the son of the late John and Annie Mae (Cremo) Bernard. Roddie operated the family grocery and tobacco store under the name of MicMac Groceries.
He is survived by his former wife, Sherry (Hickey) Bernard; daughter, Kayla; brothers, John, David (Helen) and special nephew, John Harnish, all of Indian Brook; sisters, Elizabeth (Ron), Halifax, Darlene (Darryl), Indian Brook; aunts, Annie Paul, Gloria Bernard, Pat Bernard, Mary Lou Bernard, all of Indian Brook, Beverly Gould, Whycocomagh, Gladys Stevens, Eskasoni, Diane Bernard, Maine; several nieces and nephews; godchildren, Alison, Michael and Sharon Paul; special friend, Sheila Burris.
He was predeceased by a sister, Gloria Francis and brother, Gordon; uncles, Martin, Doug, Bill Bernard and Roddie Cremo.
Visitation was held Monday, April 20 at the Ettinger Funeral Home, Main Street, Shubenacadie. Funeral mass was held Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 2 p.m. at St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Indian Brook, officiated by Fr. Tom Kurudeepan. Burial took place in the community cemetery.
