LITTLE HARBOUR ROAD – Eugene William “Bill” Smith, age 78, of Little Harbour Road, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009 in the Aberdeen Hospital.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Eugene and Lillian (Munsie) Smith.
He was a retired mechanic and body man having worked at Townsend Motors, Spencer Mills and Canadian Tire, following which he operated his own business from his home. He was a member of the Antique Car Club.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 55 years the former Margie Pettipas; daughters, Gloria Ann Ryan (Ron), Garden of Eden; Debra Dee, Stellarton; son, Steven (Nicole), Riverton; grandchildren: Michael (Jolene) Smith; Justin (Nicole) Smith; Wesley Smith; Robin Dee; Arianna Smith; great-grandchildren, Emma and Bobby Smith; daughter-in-law, Shirley Anderson; sisters, Dorothy Rae, Stellarton; Gloria Adair, Grand Prairie; brothers: Clarence “Bud”, Stellarton; John (Agnes), Westville Road; George (Beth), British Columbia.
He was predeceased by sons, Bobby and Billy; sister, Kay Lays.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with Mr. Fergie MacKay officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
