Jean F. MacAulay (MacDonald), age 90, fomerly of Cape Breton, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2010, in Granville, Ohio. Jean was born to the late James H. and Rachel MacDonald in Sydney, N.S., and married Allister MacAulay, of Englishtown, N.S., in 1943. Jean and Allister lived in Dearborn, Michigan for over 50 years, but loved to come "home" to their beloved Cape Breton Island to visit friends and family, have a good cup of tea, and enjoy freshly caught salt water fish and lobster. Jean loved to garden, bake cookies, and play pinochle. She traveled throughout Canada, Great Britain, New England, Hawaii, and the Midwest and Southeastern USA.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Allister, son Graham, brother Edward (wife, Gerry) of Moncton, N.B., and sister Kaye (husband, Emerson MacPherson) of Glace Bay, N.S.

Jean is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Alan Sachs, and granddaughter, Jennifer Sachs, of Granville, Ohio; nieces and nephews James MacPherson (Marguerite) of Gold River, B.C., Wayne MacPherson of Aylesford, N.S., Glenn MacPherson (Joanne) of Ellsworth, Maine, Catherine McJannet (Larry) of San Diego, Patricia Edmonds (Cyril) of Moncton, Janice Mellish (Robert) of Halifax, Robert MacDonald of Calgary, David MacDonald (Marilynne) of Calgary, and many other loving nieces and nephews in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Illinois.

As she wished, cremation has taken place. Jean's remains will be interred with her late husband and son in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carol Strawn Center, 126 W. Church St., Newark, Ohio 43055, or to the charity of your choice.
