1921-2010 - Lavinia "Beanie" Eldora Knowlton, 89, of Lakeview Manor and formerly of Hillsborough passed away peacefully on April 7th, 2010 at the nursing home with her loving family by her side.
Lavinia was born in Curryville on January 24, 1921 the daughter of the late Archie and Viola (Brewster)
Hawkes. She was a member of the Curryville United Church, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch # 32, Hillsborough
with 35 years of service and also belonged to the Albert Mines Seniors Club. Lavinia was an avid quilter, she also loved bingo and playing darts. Above all things she was a homemaker, beloved wife, mother and grandmother who took great pride in raising her family. She also had a special
relationship with all her brothers and sisters. She will be remembered for her sense of humour and for her great personality and sweet smile. She cherished all the time she spent with her family and friends and really enjoyed all the family get togethers. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Lavinia was a very special lady who will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Bettyanne Rossiter (John) of Alma, Marie Dixon (Gene) of Riverside-Albert, Verna Elliott (Parker) of Lower Coverdale and Bonnie Dixon (Brent) of Stilesville; sons, Donald Hawkes (Joan) of Stilesville and Gerald Knowlton (Hollis) of Alma; her precious 15 grandchildren and treasured 21 great grandchildren; sisters, Mabel Knowlton of Hillsborough, Bessie O'Brien and Marion Nelson (Clark) both of Curryville; sisters-in-law, Doris Hawkes and Muriel Hawkes both of Hillsborough and Nettie Hawkes of Moncton. She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband Elmo "Ted" Knowlton; infant son, Elmo Jr.; grandsons, Jeffrey Dixon and Steven Christopher; brothers, Reginald, Howard (Doris), Vaughn and Bertrum (Gertrude); sister Madeline Steeves (Austin); brothers-in-law, Melvin Knowlton and Weldon O'Brien.
She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The Funeral service will be at the Albert County
Funeral Home on Saturday, April 10th, 2010 at 2:00pm with Rev. Carol Mullin officiating. Following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends for further sharing of memories and for refreshments at the funeral home. Interment will be held in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lower Cape, N.B. Donations to the Mountain View Cemetery, Lakeview Manor or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
