Soy, Bernard Eugene - 84, Bible Hill/Halifax, passed away at Melville Gardens on April 7, 2010. Born in Londonderry Station, N.S. on April 4, 1926, he was a son of the late James Soy, M.C. and G. Magnolia (Toole) Soy. He attended Mt. Allison University and Maritime Forest Ranger School. His entire working life was spent in the forestry business, including co-owner and Vice-President of McCully & Soy Ltd. Bernie's greatest enjoyment in life included dancing, time spent with friends, family and his loyal companion/sheltie, Buddy, gardening, dancing, summers at the cottage with lots of music, having a good Irish Coffee, a good feed of lobster and dancing. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26 and attended many legion dances through the years. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Melville Gardens, whom he often referred to as his "angels". They all provided care, compassion and friendship. He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Valerie Soy (Doug Grover) of Dartmouth, son, Kevin (Kim) of Toronto, cherished Grandson, Samuel Grover, sisters, Margaret Soy (David) of Ottawa, Mary Spence of Bible Hill, many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, Judy Soy of Bible Hill and Margo Soy of Saskatoon. He was predeceased by his wife Ann Rachel, sister, Kathleen MacNeil and brothers, James R. and Richard Cornelius "Con". Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 11 in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m., Monday, April 12 in Immaculate Conception Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro, Father Dariusz Miskowicz officiating. Burial to take place on May 1st in Bible Hill Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26 or Children's Wish Foundation.
