The death of Leonard Robert Desormeau of Stratford, PE formerly of Fredericton occurred on April 11th, 2010 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Charlottetown, PE. Born in Grant, ON, he was the son of the late Ambrose and Florence (Marley) Desormeau and the husband of Frances (Lee) Desormeau.
Leonard "Len" was a Veteran of WWII after his discharge in 1945 he later worked as Superintendent of NB Central Repair Depot for 30 years. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church as well as The Fredericton Shriner's, The Hiram Lodge # 6 F&AM he served as Past Grand Lodge Warden of NB, Past Vice President of Housing and Charities and Past Master in 1979, he also had his 33rd Degree Scottish Rights which was something that Len was very honored to have. He loved camping and spending time at Grand Lake with family and his many friends.
Survived by his loving wife, Frances; four daughters, Nancy Desormeau of Ottawa, Elaine Somerville of Charlottetown, PE, Susan Piché (Bernard) of Calgary, AB, Diane McKenna (Barry) of Shrewsbury, England and grandchildren, Susan Somerville Allen (Doug), Mark Somerville (Cathy), Natalie Piché, Alana Piché and Robert Peppard; great - grandchildren, and Michael and Mark Allen, Sophie Somerville and Drew Somerville; one brother, Bill Desormeau (Cathy).
Visitation will be held at the McAdam's Funeral Home 160 York Street, Fredericton on Monday, April 19th, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 29 pm. The Hiram Lodge # 6 F&AM will hold a tribute service at the funeral home on Monday evening at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be in the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, April 20th, 2010 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Paul Thompson will officiate. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date.
