Sr. Agnès LeBlanc, f.j., in religion, Sr. Sophie-Maria, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010, at Monarch Hall in Riverview, where she resided. She was 92 and in the 73rd year of her religious profession.
Born Jan. 24, 1918, in Margaree, N.S., she was the daughter of the late John C. and Mathilda (Chiasson) LeBlanc.
Besides her religious family, she is survived by one sister, Mathilda LeBlanc, Sydney, N.S.; and by many nieces and nephews.
Sister's life mission was spent as a teacher in the provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. She also taught in St-Kitts, West Indies, during five years.
After retiring from teaching, she returned to the West Indies to do pastoral missionary work for a period of three years. Then, for 10 years, she served as secretary for the Christian Council for Reconciliation, as well as a volunteer with the inmates at the penitentiary.
Remains resting at Frenette's Funeral Home, 88 Church St., Moncton, 506-858-1900, Friday, April 16 from 7-9 p.m. from where the funeral service will be celebrated Saturday April 17 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.
