Hampden - Nazaire P. Richard, 92, passed away April 14, 2010 at his home in Hampden surrounded by his loving family. Nazaire was born in St. Ignace, NB, Canada August 28, 1917 to the late Pierre A. and Anastasie (Chavarie) Richard.
Nazaire served in the Canadian Armed Forces during World War II, serving in England and Scotland. He was employed as an auto mechanic for most of his life. Nazaire was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Teresa (Keaveney) Richard in 1999; by a daughter Mary Irene at age 4, and by a granddaughter, Sarah Hafford-Reed; three brothers, Albert P., Alban J., Joseph, and a sister, Marie. Surviving are his 10 children, Kevin and his wife Nancy, of Indianapolis, IN, Catherine and Bob McKinnon of Hampden, Eric and his wife Maryanne of Dixmont, Irene and her husband James McDonald of Holden, Ivan and his wife Kelly of Newburgh, Patricia of Bradford, Shirley and husband Mark of North Berwick, Lorraine and Paul McCluskey of Hampden, Brendan and Kenny both of Hampden; nine grandchildren, Conor, Shannon, Danielle, Jaime, Felicia, Colin, Nœlle, Taylor, and Tessie; three great grandchildren, Gwenevere, Noah, and Aurora; and many nieces and nephews. The children of Nazaire's give a special thanks to their brothers, Kenny and Brendan for the loving care they gave their father during his illness.
Family and friends may visit 5 to 7 P.M., Monday, April 19, 2010 at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at St. Paul the Apostle, St. Matthews Catholic Church, 70 Western Avenue, Hampden. Interment will be beside his wife at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden. Memorial contributions in Nazaire's honor may be made to The Warren Center, 175 Union St., Bangor, ME 04401.
