The passing of Francis "Frank" John Wilson of Fredericton, NB, husband of Brenda Jean (Burrows) Wilson occurred on Friday, April 16, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on January 3, 1932 in Halifax, NS, he was the son of the late Francis and Olive (Evans) Wilson. Frank joined the military in 1953 and served until 1978 in the Canadian Army Artillery Branch. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Frank was the President of Fredericton Fish and Game, lifetime member of the NB Wildlife Federation and a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4. Besides being an avid hunter and fisherman; Frank had a great passion for wildlife conservation. He was instrumental in organizing the annual youth fishing tournament at Killarney Lake. In addition to his wife, Brenda Jean, Frank is survived by his daughter, Teresa Wilson of Fredericton, NB; sons, Gerald Wilson (Patricia) of Greenwood, NS and Douglas Wilson (Wendy) of Haneytown, NB; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; step daughters, Christine Lee (JT) of Vancouver, BC and Kathleen Commerford of Edmonton, AB; two step grandchildren; sister, Frances Wilson of Amherst, NS; brothers, Gary Wilson of Halifax, NS and David Commerford of Little Mushamush Lake, NS; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Rose (Swan) Wilson; grandson, Bryon Wilson and brothers, Wayne, Butch and Norman Wilson.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 are asked to assemble at 7 pm for a tribute service. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 2 pm with Canon John Cathcart officiating. Interment will take place in Alexander Gibson Memorial Cemetery.
