LEGROS - George Victor Legros age 83 years of Ponteix, SK, passed away April 7, 2010, at Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. The funeral service was held at 1:30pm April 13, 2010 from Notre Dame d'Auvergne Roman Catholic Church with Father Raymond Carignan officiating. The organist was Marie Carlson with the Church Choir. The internment was held at Notre Dame Parish Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Wilfred Legros, Nœl Sylvain, Greg Yellich, Brad Yellich, Andy Perrautl and Roger Tourigny, cross-bearer was Charles Michel. George is survived by his wife Mary; daughter Suzanne; Brother Larry Legros; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant son Aaron; parents Henri and Jeanne Legros; sister Marie; brother in-law Ralph; nephew Douglas Ortman; sister Cecile and brother in-law Cy Brown. George was born at St. Gabriel Hospital in Ponteix on June 12, 1926. He attended school at Minot School. George married Mary Yelich in 1969. George and his brother took over the family farm and continued its operations making some adjustments due to heart surgery and a bout with cancer. He was a meticulous farmer and cattleman, growing varieties of both Durum and red spring wheat and raising Hereford cattle. Over the years he developed expert mechanical skills and was willing to offer assistance or guidance when requested. He and his brother maintained most of the farm equipment and also enjoyed rebuilding engines on the trucks and antique tractors. George loved drawing and woodworking. He looked forward to his nieces annual summer visits filled with mischief, water fights and driving instructions. George was a great fan of Hockey Night In Canada, boxing and wrestling; he enjoyed music, the outdoors and auction sales. He will greatly missed by all who knew him. Memorial donations can be made in George's memory to the Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society. Lemieux Funeral Home in Care of arrangements.
