BESTROP: Ruth (nee: Stott), age 96 years, passed away at the Herbert & District Intergrated Facility in Herbert, SK on Saturday, April 17, 2010. Ruth was predeceased by her parents Tim & Mary Bell Stott; her husband Cecil Bestrop and sister Alice Burgess. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. Ruth graduated from the Edmonton General Hospital School of Nursing in 1935. She nursed in several locations in Alberta and Saskatchewan. On August 16, 1941, she married Cecil Bestrop of Morse, SK. She continued to nurse while Cecil served in the Army. Ruth was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star. The funeral service was held on Saturday, April 24th, 2010 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Warren's Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK with Reverend David Nevett officiating. The organist was Arlene Olson. The eulogy was shared by Ruth's great niece, Angie Balkwill. Active pallbearers were George Bestrop, Bill Bestrop, Jeff Bestrop, Brian Schappert, Grant Urban and Steve Balkwill. The interment service was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Swift Current, SK.
