Beatrice Slack was born July 29, 1915 in Moose Jaw, Sask. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family April 24, 2010. Beatrice was a resident of Moose Jaw all her life. She attended St. Agnes School, Convent of Sion and graduated from the Providence Hospital School of Nursing class of 1937. She married her loving husband Frank and spent time raising a family, eventually renewing a fulfilling nursing career, working until retirement. She was a member of the C.W.L. and Providence Place Auxiliary. Mum's retirement years were kept busy helping her family, gardening, quilting and traveling. She is predeceased by her husband Frank, her parents Michael and Catherine Kane, son James, sisters Nora Dunleavy and Helen Hill, sisters-in-law Kay Slack, Jenny Wallace, Marguerite Slack brothers-in-law Harold O'Byrne, Harry Slack, Bren Gillen, Joe Dunleavy, and Layton Wallace. She will be missed by her children Harold (Barbara) - Christopher Lake, Frank - Moose Jaw, Louise Heilman - Moose Jaw, Kate (Bob) - Saskatoon, Barb Burnett (Doug) - Moose Jaw; her grandchildren: Ed (Angela), Terry (Kim), Loralee Wirtz (Roger), Patrick (Connie), Mark Heilman (Susan), Darlene Heilman (David), John Heilman (Annette) Kurt, Brad and Hailey (Jason) Burnett; great-grandchildren: Darlene, Josh (Laura), Lindsay (Anders), David, Christopher, Kelsey, Kayanna, Tucker, Rebecca, Chloe, Cody, Sophia and Sara. She is also survived by her sisters Mary O'Byrne, Kay (Bill) Graham - Moose Jaw, brothers-in-law Alvin Slack - Calgary, and Alf Hill - Regina; sister-in-law Lucy Gillen - Adelaide, Australia; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Bea's life will be held at Church of Our Lady, 566 Vaughan St., on Thursday April 29, 2010 at 11:00 am. Reverend Father Carlos Jimenez will be the Celebrant. Private Family memorialization will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to a charity of choice would be appreciated.
