BENDELIER, Betsy Kathleen, 70, Halifax, Nova Scotia passed away at her sister's home in Calgary, surrounded by the love and support of her family, on Friday, April 23, 2010 after a short battle with brain cancer. Betsy was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia to RJ (Dick) and Clara (Hearn) MacDonald. Throughout her life, Betsy's faith was interwoven with every decision she made, every action she took, and every person she touched. Betsy shared her faith with her community by serving in numerous ministries as a member of Saint Pius 10th Parish. Betsy is survived by her children, Ken (Susan) Bendelier, Linda (Greg) Smith and Kathleen (Peter) Kelava , and their father, Kenneth, as well as her cherished grandchildren Robert, Nicholas, Benjamin, Lauren, Jona, Niko and Logan, her mother, Clara, sister, Charmaine MacQuarrie, brother Tim MacDonald, sister Hilda MacDonald, and her nieces and nephews. Betsy was predeceased by her father, RJ (Dick), her brother, Richard, and her grandson, Matthew Gregory. Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass to celebrate Betsy's life will be held on Friday, April 30 at 9am at St. Lawrence Church, 3473 Dutch Village Road, Halifax, with a reception to follow in the church hall. The interment will follow the reception at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery, 33 Old Sackville Road, Lower Sackville. On behalf of Betsy, her family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to her health care providers, her family, and her friends for their loyal and unconditional love and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
