Wall - Sarah Wall, age 86 went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Foothills Country Hospice in Okotoks, Alberta. Sarah was born to John and Ann Martens in the Wymark district of Saskatchewan on October 23, 1923 and was married to Jacob Wall on December 30, 1945. Sarah leaves to cherish her memory four loving children - Bob (Jean) Wall and Carol Steffan of Calgary, Alberta: Sharon (Jerry) Schock of Burstall, Saskatchewan and Debbie (Jim) Vandevoorde of Langley, BC; Six grandchildren - Rob (Christie) Wall and Craig (Lisa) Wall of Calgary Jodie Steffan of Edmonton; Carrie (Carl) Finlay of Vancouver and Kurt and Mark Vandevoorde of Langley; three great grandchildren Zachary and Annika Wall of Calgary and Rose Finlay of Vancouver; two brothers Frank (Cathy) Martens of Comox B.C. and Bernard (Anne) Martens of Calgary and numerous nieces and nephews. Sarah was predeceased by her husband Jacob in 2000 and her parents John (1972) and Anna (1929) and stepmother Aganetha in 1985. She was also predeceased by her siblings John, David, Peter, Jacob, Cornelius, Elizabeth (Betty) and Annie. Sarah served her country during World War II in Canadian Women's Army Corps and in 1950 Sarah and Jacob and their young family moved to Calgary. Sarah was a dedicated homemaker and an avid gardener which she was able to enjoy until she became ill in the fall 2009. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 1:30 PM from the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Swift Current, SK With Pastor Herman J. Wiebe officiating. A Memorial Service will be held at Abbeydale Christian Fellowship at 1352 Abbeydale Drive South East Calgary at 4:00 PM Monday ,May, 10, 2010 with Pastor David Funk Officiating.
