It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bonnie Simmons announce her passing after a two year battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 27th, 2010 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in her 79th year. Bonnie was the youngest and the last remaining child of Robert and Mary Bartlett of Jacksons Cove, NL. She leaves to mourn with loving memories her husband Hubert of 58 years. Her two sons Garrie (Deyon) Simmons, Daren (Kem Simmons, nine daughters Donna Simmons (Eldon Gilbert), Judy (John) Moores, Kitty (Terry) Rice, Verna Simmons, Valma (Ted) Curlew, Thelma (Keith) Schwartz, Kathy (Randy) Pennell, Lori (Michael) Caines and Penny (Barry) Young, 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Her sisters and brothers-in-law Malcolm Martin, Stella Bartlett, Shirley Bartlett, Carl (Donna) Simmons, Valma (Jim) Saunders, Eric (Eva) Simmons, Julia Upward, Pearl Knight, Marion (Ross) Strong and Jean Simmons. Also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Bonnie was predeceased by her parents Robert and Mary Ann, brothers Ralph, Wilfred and Gordon Bartlett, sisters Palma (June) Martin, Emma Mitchell, Mina Thomas, Ettie Thomas, mother and father-in-law Archibald and Lillian Simmons, brothers and sisters-in-law Woodrow Simmons, Marion Simmons, Edward Simmons, Jack Upward, Eric Knight, Elizabeth Bartlett, Eleazer Mitchell, Eric Thomas and Ches Thomas. Visitation took place from Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel 63 Northmain Street Deer Lake Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service took place on Friday at 2:00 pm from the Salvation Army Church in Deer Lake with Major Wayne Pike officiating. Interment followed at the family plot on Wights Road.
