Donald 'Donnie' MacInnes
Born In: SYDNEY, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed in: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: May 3rd, 2010
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Donnie MacInnes on May 3, 2010.
Born in Sydney, he was educated at Dalhousie University and lived most of his adult life in Halifax, where he was most recently employed with the Federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans.
He was predeceased by his father, John Allan, and leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of 18 years, Donna Fardy, and their two beautiful young children, Seamus and Molly; along with his mother, Anne MacInnes; sisters, Catherine (Mel) Wambolt and their children Marcy and Nadine; Dorothy (Lesley) Moore and their son, Allan and Joan (Dan) Fortin and their children Anne and Adam; brothers Allan and Kenneth and his daughters, Melanie and Aimee.
Sharing in Donna's sorrow are her parents, Darce and Dorothea; her sister, Sheila and her children, Gabrielle and Patrick Emilien and her brother, Peter (Carol) and their children, Amber and David, all of whom loved Donnie very much.
Donnie was regarded by all who knew him as one of the nicest, most genuine people they had ever known. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his family at the cottage he and Dave Gunn built with their own bare hands (without electricity!), participating in hockey and baseball as player, coach and most importantly as a dad, and cheering Molly on as she excelled as a gymnast.
Seamus wants people to remember his dad as the best hockey and baseball coach a boy could ever have and Molly just wants all to know he was the best daddy in the whole wide world and she loves him very much and forever.
The family will be grieving in private. There will be no visitation or service. A memorial celebrating Donnie's life will be scheduled for a later time.
Arrangements are being made by Atlantic Funeral Homes, 6552 Bayers Rd.
Donations in Donnie's memory may be made to the Seamus and Molly MacInnes Education Fund at RBC Branch, 6390 Quinpool Road, Halifax (03303) or any other RBC branch.
