The death of Maurice Arthur Tibbits occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Sunday, May 9th, 2010. Born in Knowlton, Quebec, (on the shore of beautiful Brome Lake) in 1924 he was the son of William Samuel Tibbits and Mabel Mildred (Prouty) Tibbits. Maurice was a WWII veteran with the First Canadian Armoured Carrier Regiment, "the Kangaroos", a Korean War Veteran and a career soldier. He was a member of the Pigeon Fanciers Association of Canada where he won many trophies, ribbons and the respect of his fellow members. Maurice was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Ruth. He is survived by his children, Sandra (Duane) Boone of Geary, Janice (Brendan) Murphy of Kelowna, BC, William (Patricia) Tibbits of Geary, Maureen (Cedric) Boone of Grand Bay-Westfield and Steve (Hank) Tibbits of Moncton; grandchildren, Marc, Maurice, Charlotte, Shannon, Liam, Neil, Cory, Derick, Tyler, Christopher and Alex; and great-grandchildren, William, Emma, Maya, Andrew, Shikira and Damien. Also survived by his brother Harold (Marj) Tibbitts of Petawawa, ON and his sister Patricia Rundle of Cowansville, PQ.
Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago St., on Wednesday, May 12th, 2010 from 7 to 9 pm. The memorial service will take place at the funeral home chapel on Thursday, May 13th at 2 pm with Rev. Lisa Greenwood officiating.
