Phyllis was born on the family farm at Hazenmore, SK, on April 20, 1922. She married William Robertson on June 26, 1946, at St. James Anglican Church in Hazenmore. They spent many happy years farming at Mankota, until Bill passed away in 1983. She was always glad to see company arrive and had a beautiful smile for everyone. She milked a cow well into her 60's and stayed on the farm until she was 81. Phyllis was ahead of her time practicing environmental conservation and her carbon foot print was very light. Phyllis loved to sing, dance and play her piano. She sang at many sports days, weddings, graduations, dances and special occasions. She graduated from Calgary General Hospital as a Registered Nurse in 1945. Phyllis loved being a nurse and during her career worked at Kincaid, Swift Current, Vancouver, Moose Jaw and Mankota. In later years she returned to work providing home care for Mankota residents. An Anglican Graveside Service was held at the Hazenmore Cemetery on May 2, 2010, followed by a Service of Remembrance in the Hazenmore Hall, officiated by Reverend Doug Brewer. Phyllis's favorite hymns were played; "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms", "The King of Love My Shepherd Is", and "The Old Rugged Cross" which was sung by everyone attending. The tribute was read by Jim Roberson. Pallbearers were: John Mayo, Grant Switzer, John Penna, Lorne Carlson, John Robertson and Doug Robertson. A beautiful lunch, served by the Hazenmore Rec Board, and fellowship followed the service. Donations in memory of Phyllis may be made to St. James Anglican Church Restoration Fund, c/o The Hazenmore Heritage Fund, Box 130, Hazenmore, SK, S0N 1C0. Arrangements were entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
