It is with a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Tina passed away suddenly on May 15, 2010, en route from Halifax with her husband Mike by her side.
Born in Sydney Mines, Oct. 8, 1934, she was the daughter of the late William 'Bucky' and Theresa (Hill) Robertson.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Leo O'Neil, twin brother and sister, Lewis and Louise in infancy, brother, Gordie Robertson, brothers-in-law, Fred Beard, California, and John Clarke, Leitches Creek.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Jack 'Mike' MacNeil; her daughters, Louise (Clifford) MacNeil, Groves Point, and Sheila (Brian) MacKinnon, Alder Point; her grandchildren, Robyn (Jody Rendell) and Adam MacNeil and Morgan, Liam and Lauchlan MacKinnon. Also surviving are her sisters, Theresa 'Tessie' Clarke, Sydney Mines, and Carol Beard, California, her brother, William 'Bill' (Dorothy) Robertson, British Columbia; her sister-in-law, Jean Robertson, Sydney Mines; several nieces and nephews and her lifetime friends, Margaret Anne MacKinnon, Florence, and Mary Stapleton, Groves Point.
After teaching grades two and three for over 30 years Tina retired, leaving the job she loved and the children she adored. She enjoyed her retirement years to the fullest, being actively involved in the Frenchvale Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, step and square dancing, where she met her second husband Mike, the Gaelic Society, the Retired Teachers Association, golfing and Clan MacNeil. She shared her love of music with her husband Mike and they both took pride in entertaining many people with their musical talents.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. A funeral service will take place Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Frenchvale, with Fr. Paul Abbass officiating. Burial at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
Donations in Tina's memory may be made to the a charity of choice.
