On Tuesday, May 18, 2010, Jean Hatton of Moose Jaw, Sask.,and formerly of Fort Qu'Appelle, Sask., passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years. Jean was born September 29, 1918 on the family farm her father homesteaded near Chamberlain in 1906. She attended Clarendon School nearby and later took her Nurse's Training at the Providence Hospital in Moose Jaw. She married Joe Hatton in Moose Jaw in March of 1947. They lived in Fort Qu'Appelle for many years where they both worked at Fort San until it closed. Over the years they pursued many interests together, including, building houses, raising mink, then honey bees and of course operating the Drive Inn and Movie Theater in Fort Qu'Appelle and other centers. When time permitted Jean enjoyed cooking, gardening and especially the flowers. Of course visiting family was always a priority. Jean was predeceased by her parents, John and Louisa Gunningham, husband, Joe Hatton, brothers, Roy and Donald Gunningham. She leaves to mourn sisters-in-law, Edith Gunningham and Madeleine Gunningham both of Moose Jaw and nieces and nephews and their families. A celebration of Jean's life will be held in St. Andrew's United Church, Fort Qu'Appelle, Sask., on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Sharron Bodnaryk officiating.
