1916-2010 - Miramichi - Edith Margaret Duplessie, R.N., widow of the late Gerard J. (Jerry) Duplessie, of University Avenue, Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Thursday, May 20, 2010, at the age of 94. Born in Chatham, on September 27, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Ahearn) Pyne. She was a homemaker; an R.N., by profession, employed at the former Hotel Dieu Hospital, Chatham; a former employee of Scott's Drug Store Ltd. She attended St. Michaels Basilica, Miramichi. She is survived by two daughters, Donna Adams (Brandt) and Stephanie Karasek (Steve), all of Miramichi; six sons, Paul Duplessie (Anita) and Jerry Duplessie Jr. (Lois), all of Napan, Edward (Bubs) Duplessie (Ann), Louis Duplessie (Brenda), Jack Duplessie (Cynthia), Michael Duplessie (Brenda), all of Miramichi; one daughter in law, Sharon Duplessie; twenty-eight grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Jerry, in 2007; one son, J. Peter Duplessie; three sisters, Marjorie Allen and Mamie Matheson and Nettie Beaulieu; two brothers, Raymond and Blair Pyne. By her request, there will be no public visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Michaels Basilica, Miramichi, on Monday, May 24, 2010, at 11 am, conducted by Father John Fraser. Interment will be in St. Michaels Cemetery, Miramichi. As expressions of sympathy, donations to any charity of the donors' choice, would be appreciated by the family.
