1933 - 2010 - Clifford Devarennes, 76, of Manoir Saint-Jean Baptiste, Bouctouche and formerly of Saint-Paul passed away on Wednesday May 26th, 2010 at the Manoir. He was married to the late Velma Richard (2003). Born in Saint-Paul de Kent on August 3rd, 1933 he was the son of the late Firmin and the late Lydia (Cormier) Devarennes. He worked for Fraser as a lumberman, for Irving and Liquid Air as a truck driver, for school district 11 as a school bus driver, as a carpenter and started his own business; Clifford Devarennes' window manufacturing. We will remember Clifford as a hard worker, who loved to fish (Renous), woodworking, gardening, trees, picking berries, and spending time at his camp. He was the first fire chief in Saint-Paul (1978-1984). He will be sadly missed by his three children, Claudette Devarennes-Melanson (Elmo) of Dieppe, Eugène (Linda) of Saint-Paul, Michel (Louise) of Bouctouche, and his six grandchildren, Jérémie, Isabelle, Philippe, Amélie, Karine and Emma. Also to mourn him, his six brothers, Gérald (Mary), Camille (Lise) both of Montréal, Aldérice (Lorraine) of Dieppe, Leonard (Florence) of Saint-Paul, Normand (Corinne) of Moncton, Walter (Marie-Rita) of Saint-Antoine, six sisters, Gladys Dupuis (Late Walter), Lucie Dupuis (Ulysse) both of Dieppe, Mabel Charmen (Jack) of Nova Scotia, Lorette Peters (Wayne) of Fredericton, Yvette LeBlanc (Yvon) of Bouctouche, Marie-Mai Devarennes (Albert) of Alberta, and several nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by three sisters, Aline, Irène, Mabel and two brothers, Alcide and Willie.
Visitation will be held at the Saint-Paul de Kent Roman Catholic Church Slumber Room, from Sunday May 30th, 2010 from 7 to 9 and on Monday from 2 to 3:45 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at the Saint-Paul de Kent Church on Monday May 31st, 2010 at 4:00 pm. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. In Clifford's memory donations can be made to the Manoir Saint-Jean Baptiste, Bouctouche, Alzheimer's society or to the Saint-Paul Parish.
