1925 - 2010 - Ethel Lewis passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital on May 28, 2010. Born on February 22, 1925 in Saint John, NB she was a daughter of the late Lorne and Ethel Hope. Ethel was predeceased by her husband Philip Lewis, son, Harold, grandson, Jeremy and a great granddaughter, Cailin. She will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Joyce (John) Barker, Brenda Lewis and Debbie (Everett) Shea, daughter-in-law, Barbara Lewis as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ethel and her husband Philip operated the Dorchester Jail for many years until its closure. She spent her last few years at her home in Dieppe surrounded by her friends and care workers who enjoyed her company. The family would like to thank all the current and previous staff for their special care.
In respect with Ethel's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private graveside service will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens at a later date. Memorial donations in Ethel's memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
