Grant Temple O'Blenes, 90, of Salisbury passed away Monday, May 31, 2010 at the Veteran's Health Center, Moncton. Born, November 4, 1919 in Salisbury, Grant was a son of the late Temple and Ethel (Campbell) O'Blenes. He was a retired dairy farmer and member of the Second North River Baptist Church. Grant was an outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening, hunting, water colour painting and family gatherings. He was a Veteran of World War II. Grant is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Shirley (Lewis); children Virginia Hopper, Jeffrey, Philip (Shelley) all of Salisbury, Matthew (Wendy) of Calgary, AB, Rhonda O'Blenes (Randy Gagnon) of Shawville, QC and Karen O'Blenes (Jagade Rolls) of Salisbury; grandchildren Natasha Hopper, Sarah Nash, Stephanie Moquin, B.J. Mitton, Maxine Mitton, Sylvia Mitton, Paige O'Blenes, Jillian O'Blenes, Colleen O'Blenes, Kimberly O'Blenes and Daniel O'Blenes; great grandchildren Logan Nash, Eva Moquin and Electra Mitton; sister Noreen O'Blenes of Saint John; sister in law Ruth O'Blenes of Salisbury and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by daughter Patricia; sister Leone Steeves and brother Evan O'Blenes.
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Thursday, June 3 from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral will be held from the Second North River Baptist Church Friday, June 4 at 2 pm with Rev. Jarvis Lepper officiating. Interment to follow at Monteagle Cemetery.
