The death of Russell "Russ" Scribner, husband of Joan (Buck) Scribner, occurred unexpectedly, June 5, 2010 at his home in Hampton. He was born January 24, 1930 in Nauwigewauk, son of the late David and Grace (Fraser) Scribner. He attended school in Nauwigewauk and Hampton. Russ joined the R.C.A.F. August 18, 1948 and during his thirty years of military service he was stationed from the Atlantic to Pacific coasts and north to the Arctic Coast. He also served two tours in Europe and one assignment as Canadian Liaison with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, USA. Upon his retirement from the service he worked for the Department of Corrections for fifteen years. Upon retirement from his second career he volunteered with Meals on Wheels, the Hampton Seniors Resource Centre and Royal Canadian Legion Hampton Branch 28. He continued his passion for travel through his association with Maritime Twin Seas Caravan Club, Sussex Kings Chapter 22. He is survived by his wife Joan, one daughter, Susan Scribner (William Turczyn), Estevan, SK; one son, Samuel Scribner, Halifax; one sister, Evelyn Harrison, Hampton; two brothers, Leslie Scribner (Frances), and Stuart Fraser, Nauwigewauk; several nieces and nephews.
Following his wishes cremation has taken place. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute will be held Wednesday, 7:00pm at Reid's Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a time to be announced followed by interment in Hampton Rural Cemetery. www.reidsfh.com
