Dennis Allen Read passed away at the Oromocto Public Hospital on June 14th, 2010 Born on May 10, 1950 in Vancouver, BC he was the son of Edna (Marshall) and the late Harry Read and the husband of Helen (Blinn) Read. Dennis spent 29 years in the Canadian Army he served overseas in Bosnia, the Golan heights, and Alert. Dennis continued his career at CFB Gagetown as a civil servant. Survived by his wife, Helen; sons, David (Julie) Read and Robert (Antonia) Read; one daughter, Shelley Read (Kevin) deceased infant son, James Read; grandchildren; Kelsey, Sadie, Liam, Katie and Kael; sisters, Peggy (Rienhart) Mueller, Donna Read and Linda Read. He was predeceased by his father Harry; one brother, Walter Read. Dennis will be fondly remembered by many friends and extended family.
Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home on Thursday, June 17th, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm. A memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Chapel at CFB Gagetown on Friday, June 18th, 2010 at 1:00 pm with The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 93 holding a tribute service at that time. Padre Bruce Murray will officiate at the memorial service. Interment will be in the Pioneer Garden's Cemetery.
