Marjorie Gaudet
The death of Marjorie Gaudet, 90, of Amherst occurred on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
Born in Hastings she was a daughter of the late Frank & Theresa (McCallum) Porter.
Marjorie was a member and past Chief of the Pythian Sisters Elizabeth Temple #6. From 1974 to 1985 she was a house parent at the Nova Scotia Regional School for the Deaf. She was a member of the Trinity St. Stephens United Church. An active community member, Marjorie was a member of the Amherst Curling Club, an avid bowler with the Seniors Bowling League and a volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross for the blood clinics.
Marjorie will be sadly missed by her daughter, Judith (Joseph) White of Brighton, ON; son, Richard (Cindy) of St. Louis, MO; one sister, Betty (Bill) Tracy of Sackville, NB; a brother, Carl (Audrey) Porter of Warren; four grandchildren; Jamie & Brent White, Courtney and Miles Gaudet; and one great-grandson, Jordan White.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gerald in 1968; five sisters, Buryl in infancy, Hazel, Frances, Jean, and Evelyn; three brothers, Claude, Ollie, and Earl.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (667-8777). Respecting Marjorie's wishes, a private graveside service will be held at the Warren Cemetery at a later date.
