John Murray Alexander Ewart

On Friday, June 25 with his wife Doris, daughter-in-law Kim Ewart and friends Helen MacRae, Helen Barrett and Ann Shepherd, at his bedside, John slipped the bonds of earth. Born in Montreal, Quebec, he was the only son of Donald David Ewart and Frances Cote. (Frances died shortly after the birth of her two children and John was loved and raised by his stepmother, Lillian Peart Ewart). John is survived by his wife Doris (MacDonald) Ewart, son David Ewart, daughters-in-law Kim Ewart and Pauline Melenhorst, sisters Gloria Power (Wilf) Beverley Piedalue, (Robert) and three delightful grandchildren Emily Ewart, Alex Ewart and Hudson Ewart. His dear son Peter died in 2003. John's life took many turns and detours. He was first and foremost a family man and in his early career days he was a computer expert with IBM, a business consultant, a writer, a teacher, a sailor, a marathon runner but most of all he was a "people" person. Wherever John chose to be, there would be laughter and fun and witty conversation. He was privileged to have many friends and was noted for his compassionate ways and love of life. He had a mutual admiration and rapport with his nephews and nieces and cherished the support and love always offered in the good and not so good times. His special relationship with his two sons was one of his highlights and when they were together there was always the sound of laughter and good humour. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at Sherwood Church of Christ, 9 Lilac Ave., Charlottetown on Wednesday, June 30, from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. The funeral service will follow in the church at 6 p.m. A social hour for friends and family will follow the service. Interment will take place later in the family plot in Brookfield Cemetery. In remembering John, donations may be made to The Upper Room Hospitality Ministry, 101 Richmond St. This Ministry's mailing address is P.O. Box 1177 Charlottetown, P.E.I., C1A7M8.
