Christine M. Harper of Riverview passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Born in Blackville, NB. Christine was the daughter of the late Weldon and Hannah (Hallihan) Donohue. A retired school teacher, a profession that she loved. She was an active member of her community, including president of IHM ladies society, Moncton area council of churches, she was also past president of home & school and an avid bridge player. She was an active member of the Catholic Women's League of Canada for 50 years, serving on all levels parish diocesan, provincial and national. Christine was the NB provincial, Archdiocesan Council President and parish president of St. Bernard's CWL for several years and was awarded life membership, which is the highest distinction awarded by national CWL in 1983. Christine will be sadly missed by her loving husband Gerry of 48 years, she was a loving mother to her son Michael Harper of Moncton and daughter Susan Lutes of Hillsborough, a very special grandma to Nicholas and Hillary Lutes, she is also survived by sisters; Mary Underhill, Bernadette Smith (Burton), brothers; Joseph Donohue (Marion) and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeased by two brothers; Raymond and James Donohue.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Cobb's Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitpine Road, Riverview (869-2007) on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm with parish prayers and sharing of memories to take place at 8:30 pm from the funeral home. The funeral mass will take place on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 12 PM from the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Riverview with Father Phil Mulligan presiding, with the interment to take place at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery.
