It is with great sadness that the family of the late Selby Ford Janes announce his passing on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Facility, at the age of 84 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories: his wife of 63 years, Bertha (nee Reid); children: Doris (Ches), Iris (Albert), Lillian (Wayne), Vivian (Everett), Selby (Joy) and Ivan (Evelyn); nine grandchildren: Shawn, Jason, Sheri Ann, Nancy, Brenda, Jessica, Nicole, Graham and Sheldon; five great-grandchildren: Brianna, Lucy, Sommer, Rebecca and Whatt; brothers: Aubrey (Bonnie), Oliver and Lloyd; sister, Joan (Clayton); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Edwin; mother, Amelia Maud; sisters: Hilda and Ethel; brothers: Baxter, Doyle, Chesley, Everett and Doug. Visitation was held at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 2 at 2:00 p.m. from the West Side Pentecostal Tabernacle, Elizabeth Street, with Pastor Calvin Andrews officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
