It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Nina (MacLean) Iannetti announce the sudden passing of our mother. Surrounded by her loving family, she passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Saturday, July 3, 2010.
Born in Point Aconi, Nina was the daughter of the late Francis and Ester (Landry) MacLean.
She is survived by daughters, Judy (Victor) Jenkins, Sydney Mines, Sheila (Bill) Corbett, Lingan; sons, Brian (Joann) and David (Laurie), both of Sydney Mines; son-in-law, Dave MacDonald; and one brother, Ronald MacLean, Oakville, Ont. Also surviving are brothers-in-law, John, Albert and James (Pauline) Iannetti, Nat Beaton; sisters-in-law, Rosina (Francis) Arsenault, Norena Iannetti; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a special neighbour, Rita Dipersio, whom she considered to be another daughter.
'Nanny I' as she was fondly known to her 10 grandchildren, Troy, Kelly, Tracy, Sheri, Keri, Kimberly, Amy, Jason, Lauren, Anthony and 13 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kelsey, Mitchell, Paige, Grace, Quinn, Ian, Nolan, Isabel, Aiden, Ben, Mia and Sam will forever have a special place etched in their hearts.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, daughter, Sandra MacDonald, twin sons, Ralph and Richard, and one sister, Lillian Beaton.
Nina was born into a close family. She carried those family traditions and values into her marriage and in raising her own seven children. Besides raising a large family, she worked in the family business, Iannetti Brothers Scrap and Metal, as bookkeeper for many years.
Nina was a devout Roman Catholic with tremendous faith. In spite of crippling arthritis, she was able to keep up a cheery and positive outlook on every day life. This outlook transcended into the hearts of everyone that was in her presence.
She was an avid reader, loved doing her crossword puzzles and most enjoyed knitting for her special great-grandchildren and the St. Pius X Fall Fairs.
Visitation will take place at Francis Funeral Home, Main Street, Sydney Mines, today (Monday, July 5), 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Pius Church, Sydney Mines, Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Fr. Thomas John officiating. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph's/St. Mary's Cemetery Fund.
