LORNE - Ronald John Williams, age 80 of Lorne, Pictou County, passed away suddenly at home on July 6, 2010.
Born in Pugwash Junction, NS, he was a son of the late William R. and Vida Jane (Crawford) Williams.
He had been a resident of Lorne since 1953. Ronald worked as a truck driver for Irving oil for 15 years and then went to work at Inner Supply and later with Kelderman Concrete until his retirement. He was a member of St. Columba United Church, Hopewell, and was a former member of the Maple Leaf Lodge No. 21 Knights of Pythias. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Ronald is survived by his wife Winnifred (MacKay) of 59 years, sons, Grant (Connie), Ronald (Suzanne); daughter, Louise (Eddy), seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Violet, brother in-law Julian and a chosen daughter, Cathy and her son James.
He was predeceased by a daughter Joy, brothers: Sherman, Mark, Curtis and Robert; sisters: Annie, Ella and Rita.
His remains will rest in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton, from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday from St. Columba United Church, Hopewell, with Rev. Gary Tonks officiating. Burial will be in Lorne Cemetery.
