Aged 73 years of Springhill, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 in All Saints Hospital, Springhill. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the Late Chester and Evelyn (King) Matthews.
Bedford worked in the Springhill coal mines for 18 years as a Draggerman; worked in the construction industry and ending his working career as owner/operator of Matthews's Taxi.. He was a member of the Pioneer Street Club for 49 years; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling and his family.
Bedford will be sadly missed by his wife the former, Adeana Foster; daughters, Heather (Gordon Duncan) Luison, Tami (Ed) Daburger both of Kamloops, BC, and Shawna (Jason) Tooke, Springhill; step daughter, Cather Reid of BC; step sons, Terry (Susan Nelson) Reid and Stephen (Suzy) Reid both of Clear Water, BC; special grandson, Sam (Jessica Herritt) Matthews, Springhill; five grandchildren, five step grandchildren, a great granddaughter and a step great grandson; sisters, Audrey (Dennis Walsh) MacDonald, Springhill and Jessie (Dan) Hunter, Pugwash; brothers, Darrell Matthews and George (Brenda) Matthews both of Springhill; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son Timothy; step son Michael Reid and a brother Fraser.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361). A Memorial Funeral Service was held 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 20, 2010 in A. H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill, with Major Max Snow officiating. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill.
