Patrick J. Daigle of Harvey Station, NB passed away peacefully on July 29, 2010 at the Oromocto Public Hospital, surrounded by his wife and family. Patrick was born at Pointe Sapin, NB in 1920, a son of the late Sylvester and Sylvie (Barrieau) Daigle. Dad was a proud man and loved his family most, including his wife of 64 years, his seventeen children, and his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Patrick worked all of his life as a woodsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and picking wild fruit. Other enjoyments were playing the harmonica, kitchen parties, cars, visiting family and friends and playing cards. One of his family's fondest memories was his sense of humor. Patrick was a man of faith which was apparent during his final moments when he opened his eyes looking towards heaven, he smiled and the joy showing on his face reassured his family that he was going to his heavenly home.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Dorca M. (Rousselle) Daigle; his children, Donald Daigle (Therese), Rogersville, NB, Yvonne Rousselle (Albert), Lagaceville, NB, Theresa Boisvert (Octave), St. Wilfred, NB, Norman Daigle (Rose), Harvey, NB, Linda Dykeman (Thomas), Salmon Creek, NB, Norma Brown (Charles), Aline Daigle, Sylvia Jewett (Joey), Roger Daigle (Donna), Evelyn Daigle, all of Harvey, NB, Rose Sloan (Stephen), McAdam, NB, Anthony Daigle, Wanda Daigle, Wayne Daigle (Jocelyn), Russell Daigle (Keri), Lisa Daigle and Jean Daigle, all of Harvey, NB; twenty four grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Yvonne Mazerolle and Suzanne Savoie, both of Pointe Sapin, NB and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Patrick was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jamie Jewett, two sisters, Rosalie Gray and infant Suzanne and three brothers, Nazaire and Exit Daigle and infant Elphege.
Visiting hours will be held at Swan Funeral Home, 1826 Highway 3, Harvey Station, NB on Monday, August 2, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cork, NB on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 4 p.m. by Fr. Mark Trozp. Interment will follow in Cork Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Patrick's six sons.
For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Patrick, the family has suggested the Lung Association or the Cork Cemetery.
