Life long resident of Portugal Cove and a veteran of World War II with the Royal Navy. Passed away at the Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion on Saturday July 31st, 2010, aged 94 years. Predeceased by wife Ella; parents Archibald and Violet Mitchell; siblings: Fred, Muriel, Armorel, Freeman, Irene, Malcolm and Harry. Leaving to mourn sons: Wayne (Judy) and Floyd (Jean); grandchildren: Craig (Chrissy), Karen (David), Erin (Geoff) and Kerri-Lynn (Trevor); great-grandson, Caleb; brother Warrick; sister Pauline; as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Carnells Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Visitation from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday, August 2nd and on Tuesday, August 3rd , from 10-12 noon. Funeral service to take place on Tuesday August 3rd, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Lawrence Anglican Church, Portugal Cove.
