The passing of Stewart "Stew" Allan Kitchen, of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Eileen Kitchen, occurred on August 3, 2010 at his home. Stew was born on April 16, 1920 in Fredericton, NB. He was employed by the Department of Lands & Mines for 35 years; retiring in 1980. Stew was a member of the Seniors Club on Johnson Avenue where he enjoyed lawn bowling and shuffle board. Stew was survived by his children, June Perks of Nanton, AB, Jim Kitchen (Nora) of Red Deer, AB, Barb Kitchen-Palmer (Brian) of Fredericton, NB and Mike Kitchen (Joan) of High River, AB; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Pearle Manderson of PQ and Goldie White of ON; special aunt, Joyce Copp; nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Jean.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, August 6, 2010 at 11 am with Rev. Bill MacLeod officiating. Interment will take place at Fredericton Rural Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to give a Special thanks to Stu's caregiver, Lucy Howe.
