Hoeg, Vernon James
(November 8, 1933-August 6, 2010)
Peacefully at Gables Lodge in Amherst, N.S. in his 77th year.
Born in Joggins, he was the son of Jess and Ada (Cormier). A long time resident of Toronto, he retired at an early age to return home to enjoy the good life with family and friends.
Predeceased by his loving partner Margaret Edwards, he is survived by his children Veronica and Gary (Shelley) and step-children Peter (Dawn), Larry (aka "Butch"), Michael (Susan), and Debbie (Bruce). Dear grandpa to Mandy, Jessica, Matthew, Danielle, Tanya (Shawn), Sabrina (Craig), Amanda (Mike), Stacey, Jeremy (Beth) and great grandchildren Taylor, Drake, Kassidy and Kyler. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by nephews Wayne, Perry, Kevin, Bobby, Billy and Allison and nieces Lena, Doris, May and Barbara. Survived by his sister Marion Humphreys of Musquodoboit Harbour. Predeceased by his brothers Alfred, Harvey, Walter and Donald and sisters Clara, Leota, Marcella and Mabel.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where friends and family will be received on Tuesday, August 10th from 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, Joggins on Wednesday, August 11th at 11:00 am, Father David MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Ragged Reef Cemetery in Joggins with refreshments at the church hall immediately following.
