Gordon "Gerald" Reid - 73, of Canning, Kings County, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2010 at home. Born in Windsor, he was a son of the late Barry and Ida (Ritchie) Reid. He had been employed as a compositor with Kentville Publishing for over 15 years and the Halifax Herald for over 25 years. Gordon endured many ailments throughout his life but always kept a positive outlook toward recovering. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Claire Rockett; a daughter, Tara Reid, Dartmouth; three sons, Ronald Reid, Dartmouth; Dana (Josie) Reid, Ottawa; Jay Reid, Vancouver; a sister, Diane (Lester) McClare, California; sister-in-law, Elaine Reid, Kentville; an aunt Myrtle Patterson, Truro; two grandchildren, Makenna and Spencer; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Joanne Alders; two brothers, Don and David. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. There will be no visitation or funeral service, by request. Burial will take place at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to Valley Regional Hospital or the Canadian Red Cross.
