It is with great sadness we announce the passing of VELMA BEATRICE JOHNSON (nee: Lennox) on August 8, 2010 at 78 years of age. Born in Ormiston, SK., September 17, 1931 to Henry and Jacqueline Lennox, third eldest of fifteen children. She grew up in the Ormiston area and received her education at Creemore School. Mom enjoyed both rural and small town living and participated in many community events and activities. She met the love of her life, Earl Johnson, and in 1949 they married and together raised five children, retiring to Moose Jaw in 1986. Mom enjoyed frequent coffee outings with many friends and family at many local establishments as well as her community of friends at Victoria Towers. Predeceased by her parents, Henry and Jacqueline Lennox, sister and brother-in-law Nita and Bill Kozak; brother-in-law, Bill Hutchinson. Velma is survived by her five children: Elaine (Don) Carlyle, Campbell River, BC; Donna (Dale) Durrant, Moose Jaw, SK; Ken (Maureen) Johnson, Kamloops, BC; Debbie (Scott) Hanna, Moose Jaw, SK, and Kim (Darin) Strudwick, Balgonie, SK.; ten grandchildren: Cameron Carlyle, Melanie Carlyle, Scott (Danica) Durrant, Lindsay Durrant, Caitlin Johnson, Mallory Johnson, Darren Hanna, Chris Hanna, Aidan Strudwick, Trystan Strudwick; great-grandchildren Kayden Barber, Ethan Durrant; sisters, Phoebe Hutchinson, Coaldale, AB; Eva (Lew) Hender, Edmonton, AB; Patricia Lennox, Moose Jaw, SK; Verna Lennox, Abbotsford, BC; Fran (Ron) Bender, Moose Jaw, SK; Cheryl (Gerry) Nestman, Briercrest, SK; Arlene (Don) Laboucaine, Moose Jaw, SK; brothers: Louis (Dot) Lennox, Moose Jaw, SK; Tom (Linda) Lennox, Smeaton, SK; Gene (Pat) Lennox, Lethbridge, AB; Delbert (Grace) Lennox, Moose Jaw, SK; Reg (Maurice) Lennox, Westbank, BC; Ernie (Cheryl) Lennox, Watrous, SK; as well as a gazillion nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend John Carley will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday evening, 7:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
