Pauline Emery

Passed in: Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada
Passed on: August 12th, 2010

After a brief illness, surrounded by family, Pauline Emery died peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton on Thursday, August 12th. She was the daughter of Helen (MacDonald) and the late Andrew Emery, wife of John Doucet, mother of Paul, Adrien and Margot Doucet, sister of Mary Lou Johnson and John Emery, aunt of 17 loving nieces and nephews, and friend of the community. Pauline was a graduate of Harrison Trimble High School, Moncton, Saint-Francis Xavier (B.Sc) and Memorial Universities (B.Ed). Professionally, Pauline was a unique teacher who inspired her students with a sympathetic ear, unconventional methods, intelligence, and genuine care. Pauline's love of the beauty of the natural world was expressed through her many artistic pursuits including choral music, dance, painting and costume design. She perceived and embodied a deep spiritual connection with all things and put her beliefs into practice through her commitment to the SPCA, Oxfam, the Council of Canadians, and the Community Food Sharing Association. Pauline was an active member of the francophone community and an accredited T'ai Chi Chih instructor. Words are so inadequate to convey the essence of any person, especially one such as Pauline. Her infectious humor, her unconventional wit, her intelligence, her artistic nature, and her love and respect for the natural world informed and formed those lucky enough to have been touched by her. This is her gift to us and her legacy. She will be missed.
There will be no visitation by family request. A memorial service will be held at Ste. Anne-des-Pays- Bas Church on Tuesday, August 17th, 2010 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Don Savoie will officiate. A memorial service in St. John's NL will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the SPCA or the charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences in Pauline's memory may be made at www.mcadamsfh.com
