The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Monday, August 16, 2010, of Raymond Joseph White, of Summerside and formerly of Emerald, P.E.I. , age 86 years.
Ray was born on December 30, 1923, in Emerald , P.E.I., to his late parents, John J. and Florence (nee Mulligan) White.
Beloved husband of 59 years to Nan (nee McInnis) White. Loving father of John (Elizabeth) of Summerside, Bev (Marc) Sheeran of Truro, N.S., Mary Lee (Vaughn) Edwards of Halifax, N.S., and Joseph (Tami) of Truro, N.S. Also lovingly remembered by 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Survived by his sisters, Kathleen McCourt of Summerside, Dorothy (Clarence) Doyle of Summerside, Donna Fraser of Halifax, N.S.; and sister-in-law, Mary Howatt of Summerside.
Besides his parents, Ray was predeceased by his brother, Alfred White, and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Friday, August 20, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
Visiting hours on Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Memorial donations in Ray's memory to St. Paul's Cemetery Fund or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
A prayer service will be held on Thursday evening at 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home by members of W.E. Callaghan, Council #2070 Knights of Columbus, Summerside.
