The passing of Lawrence Angus "Sonny" Fairweather of Maugerville, NB, husband of Judy (McCoy) Fairweather occurred on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, after a lengthy battle with kidney disease since 2003. Born on December 31, 1944 in Chipman, NB, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Geraldine (MacDonald) Fairweather. Sonny worked in auto body repair, his last employer was Southwood Automotive, where he worked for over ten years. He was a volunteer fireman at Barkers Point Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, camping and playing cards. Sonny loved the countless hours he spent playing with his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a jack of all trades. In addition to his wife, Sonny is survived by his daughter, Tanya of North Carolina, USA; sons, Larry of Maugerville, NB and Sheldon of AB; grandchildren, Gabriel, Nicholas, Samantha, Andrew and Tara; brother, Douglas (Gloria) of Barkers Point, NB; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Heather Smith; brothers, Robert and Gerald "Dodie" Fairweather and infant brother, Blaine.
Although there will be no visitation by request, a Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 6 pm with Mr. Johann Grimm officiating. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Kidney Foundation or the Fredericton SPCA would be appreciated by the family.
