McCONVILLE - Robert James McConville (Bob) born at Aneroid, Saskatchewan, February 5, 1917, died on Friday, August 20, 2010 at Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current Saskatchewan. Bob, at age 93, remained independent in his suite at the Ponteix Community Housing Co-operative until his recent, brief illness. He is survived by his daughter Karen (Bill) and family, his step-daughters Vicky (Dennis) and Linda and families, his sisters Mary and Nellie and families, his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bob was predeceased by his parents Jim and Martha McConville, his first wife Alma (Bjore), and his second wife Doris (Grabowski). Bob was a lifelong, respected resident in the Quimper, Aneroid, and Ponteix areas. He served in the R.C.A.F. during WWII and was an active member of the Aneroid Legion. After his parents moved to Vancouver, he farmed the homestead land until he retired to Ponteix. His was a life well-lived. He was a remarkable person and will be missed by family and friends, young and old. Bob was well known in the community. He was involved in numerous community activities and projects. He had a great sense of humour, a practical approach and positive outlook toward life, and was admired for his stoicism in adversity. Music was always an important part of his life. His memory was phenomenal and he knew more about world-wide current events than most. At his request, he will be cremated and there will be no public service. Those wishing to remember Bob may make a donation to the Dr. Noble Irwin Healthcare Foundation at Swift Current, Saskatchewan, or to a charity of their choice.
