ADAMS, Alexander Joseph "Frenchy" - 83, of Nictaux, Annapolis County, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2010 in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Bathurst, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late Joseph Benjamin and Clara "Gladys" (Doucet) Adams. He moved to Canning in 1945, where he met his wife, Mildred Lavinia Hill. He was employed with Scotian Gold and the Blenkhorn Axe Factory. His passion for the sea soon drew him to work on the gypsum boats leaving Hantsport, where he worked for several years. Later he was employed with Archibald Farms Limited and Port Williams Pulp Mill. He moved to Middleton in 1992. He was also a member of Digby Fish and Game for several years. He loved fishing, camping, dancing and lived life to the fullest. He is survived by three sons, Raymond (Darlene), Thorold, Ontario; Carl (Sharon), Cambridge; Blaine (Susan), Ottawa; five daughters, Carol (Allan) Antoine, Canning; Brenda (Paul) Craig, Liverpool; Yvonne (Phillip) Sarty, New Minas; Teresa, Sackville; Gladis, Halifax; two brothers, Chuck, Quispamsis, New Brunswick; Roger, Saint John; five sisters, Bertha, Bathurst; Evangeline, Montreal; Lorraine, Saint John; Germaine, Campbellton; Marjorie, Ontario; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; his companion, Joyce Coleman and her children, Chet, Jerri, Pam and Shelly. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mildred L. Hill; a brother, Felix; a sister, Viola; two grandsons, Michael Antoine and Jarred Butler. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 2010 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 13, 2010 in the Hillaton Cemetery, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the charity of your choice.
