It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden passing of James Richard Cadden on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at the age of 47.
He was a beloved brother, uncle, great-uncle, and friend. Jim was born in New Waterford and was the son of the Dave and Bessie (Hart) Cadden.
He was a renowned drummer and a member of the Cape Breton Professional Musicians Association. He played in a number of popular bands from East to West Coast over the years, one of which was Johnny Burke and The Eastwind Band in Ontario. For a time Jim was a studio drummer for such performers as Janie Fricke, and Mel Tillis. Jim was very well known in the music business and will be missed by many. Not only was Jim a brilliant drummer but was very talented in string instruments and played bass on many occasions.
Jim loved his family very deeply and his last departing words after every daily visit with his brother, Bree was "I love you".
Jim is survived by his brother, Bree (Sharon) of New Waterford; four nieces, Lois Zaat (Steve) and children, Ethan and Marla of Saint John, N.B.; Dale Cadden and her children, Kelsey, Kalvin and Keir of Upper Tantallon, N.S.; Jennifer Cadden (Nolan Young) of Edmonton, Alta., Sally Cadden, Brampton, Ont. He is also survived by many close friends, cousins and neighbors, who were always there for him.
Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by a brother, Albert.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place, under the care and direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500. Funeral service will take place Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Calvin United Church, Hudson Street, New Waterford, with The Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. Interment will be in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown, with a luncheon to follow at Calvin Hall, all are welcome.
